Week 1: Ranking The Rankers — DAMO Takes a Beating

Is anybody actually “good” at fantasy football? Ranking the Rankers is an ongoing experiment to try to answer this question. Each week 12 fantasy experts play each other in head-to-head matchups, based on their weekly player rankings. They also play a dim-witted computer algorithm named DAMO (Dumb-Ass Machine Orderer). For the details of how it all works, read this post.

Weekly Thoughts
Wow.  DAMO took a beating in Week 1.  It didn’t win a single matchup.  I think this is largely due to the fact LeSean McCoy was hurt last year, and so DAMO ranked him super low, but I’m not sure (DAMO’s Week 1 rankings are based solely on total fantasy points from last season).  Michael Fabiano had the best week, in part, by being relatively bullish on McCoy and bearish on Doug Martin.  Nate Zegura had the most “best calls”, despite losing four matchups.  He called Manning over Brees, DeSean Jackson over Roddy White, and Chiefs DST over 49ers DST — pretty sweet.  Overall, a good Week 1.  Hopefully DAMO wins a few next week to make things interesting.
